Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Statement

We acknowledge the reality of microaggressions, prejudice, discrimination, and/or violence against racial, gender, class, sexual, and other identities on both an interpersonal and political level that is present in many domains of society.  We seek to take a social-emotional lens to the work of coaching, honoring the diversity of our differences and finding common ground. To that end, we strive to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion into all aspects of our work.

By actively threading diversity, equity, and inclusion into every level of engagement in our organization, both internally and externally, we seek to contribute to much-needed progress in our country. We will achieve this by:

  • Incorporating a lens of intersectionality into our frameworks for coaching, including in our client case studies and in thinking about how to help clients through the coaching process;

  • Creating an internal organizational culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive; and

  • Being willing to have the difficult conversations in the name of greater understanding and support for one another. This means having conversations that could be difficult, challenging, or triggering, and understanding that conflict-avoidance does not help the situation. Times of conflict can be a learning experience for all involved.

Respectful Learning: Students who exhibit behaviors that are disruptive to members of the CLCC Leadership Team or other students may be expelled from the program without refund of tuition. It is the CLCC Leadership Team’s sole discretion to determine what constitutes a disruptive learning behavior. All trainees are advised that learning is messy and imperfect. To enter into this program is to agree to work through conflict if it arises and find solutions for that conflict. We cannot guarantee a “safe space” at all times regarding the things that members of our community will say or do, and we require everyone’s participation in respectfully discussing areas of conflict. Respectful discussion is defined as use of “I” statements, asking questions, critiquing systems rather than individuals, requesting changes rather than demanding them, timely responses when a discussion requires your response, abstaining from profanity/name-calling/accusations and instead focusing on desired changes in behavior or policy. If you feel that you cannot participate in a program unless there is a guarantee of a safe space or that you will automatically granted all requests for changes in behavior or policy, you should not join this program.

Diversity Statement: Our group will be diverse, with people from different countries, racial and ethnic backgrounds, cultural customs, sexual orientations, gender orientations, and religions. At all times, CLCC participants are expected to be respectful of our diverse participants in this training program. We specifically seek to create a space women/women-identified persons can be prioritized and women’s leadership is emphasized and we expect all participants, regardless of gender orientation, to share in prioritizing this.
